two (2) forward metal straps that fit around the trunk edge and secure to the hydraulic strut fitting;
two (2) rear metal straps that wrap around the trunk edge;
two (2) metal straps that span most of the trunk;
four (4) bullet-shaped nuts to join the metal strap sections together;
two (2) lengths of rubber strip;
four (4) spacers that fit in the 180-degree bends in the straps, to protect the trunk finish;
a collection of bolts, lock washers, nuts and washers.
What to do
Open the shipping box, remove the contents and instructions. Remove the baseframe and mounting hardware from the wrappers
and lay them out on a dry, flat surface. Put the baseframe at a distance, and pull out the four metal strap sections
that fit to the trunk. Put the more-complex section of strap that goes inside the trunk further
away from you, as these go nearest the front of the car.
Slide the rubber strips onto the long sections of metal strap.
Find the four rubber spacers and insert these into the 180-degree bend in the straps.
Slide the metal straps over the trunk lid. Two go on the drivers' side, two on the passengers' side. The two straps are positioned toward the passenger compartment, the two without go nearest the back fender.
Pull out the two stainless-steel trunk-crossing, and align the screw holes in the metal straps. Grab four washers and four screws, and tighten the metal straps in place.
Grab the baseframe, and flip to look at the underside. You'll see four female threaded holes. Flip the baseframe over again, and line the holes up with the screw holes on the straps. Grab four more screws and washers, and tighten this up.
Open the trunk, and fit the forward-most metal strap to the hydraulic strut mount, by popping off the spring clip, aligning the holes, and popping the spring clip and strut back in place.
Get the polish out and make the surface shine, then drive somewhere, weather permitting.
