| How to install the platform on a Pontiac Solstice |
| Assembly Instructions: |
|
Before beginning study the installation diagram and written instructions.
The carrier is desinged to be installed with the fence forward to provide additional protection during front impact collision, with a load on the carrier. Six integrated belt loops permit the use of most types of tie-down belts for even the bulkiest of luggage. |
|
Through optimal pressure distribution on the trunk lid the carrying capacity is 50 lbs maximum.
Metal attachment strap sets are stamped RF/RR to indicate right front/right rear and LF/LR to indicate left front/left rear. |

Tools required: |
|
|
| Notes: |
|
Excessive lengths of rubber may be carefully cut with a pair of sharp scissors.
The use of rubber-vinyl protectant or spray wax as a lubricant will make installation and sliding of the rubber deck strips easier. You are provided with two sets of black spacer rings (one thin, one thick); they may be interchanged to accomodate vehicle variations. They MAY be used between the attachment set strap tabs. |
| Step 1 |
| Clean and wax the trunklid surface thoroughly. |
| Step 2 |
| Lubricate all screws with enclosed lubricant COPASLIP. |
| Step 3 |
| Lightly pull on edges of rubber strip to allow it to form around edges of metal attachment strips. |
| Step 4 |
| Push back nylon protective edge clips inside ends of metal attachment strips. |
| Step 5 |
|
Position the fully assembled luggage carrier over the center axis of the trunk. To avoid scratching the paint, temporarily use towels or a wiping cloth on the trunk deck. While working on the installation it might be helpful to place an empty box or towel in the trunk opening, so as to keep it ajar. |
| Step 6 |
| Loosen the fully assembled luggage carrier and rear Allen screws to the limit of threads. Hook the lower lips of the deck strips, complete with rubber, over the rear edge of the trunk. |
| Step 7 |
| Carefully pull the entire carrier forward, until the forward clips go below the lower edge. If necessary, the Allen screws may be all the way undone, to allow the clips to be hooked over the trunk edges. The clips will slide within the rubber strip if a lubricant is used. |
| Step 8 |
|
After positioning the forward clips over the forward edge of the trunk lid, make sure the assembly is positioned evenly from both edges of the trunk.
Only after proper positioning of the deck strips may the front and rear Allen screws be firmly fastened. |
| Step 9 |
|
After the front and rear Allen screws have been tightened, carefully try to close the trunk lid.
Careful! Pay close attention to the space between the front edge of the trunk lid and the body of the car. If there is contact with the clip and the body of the car, raise the lid again and make sure the front clips are properly seated and installed correctly, i.e. right-hand and left-hand side of the trunk lid when standing behind the car. |
| Regularly clean the surfaces of the carrier with a quality metal polish. |
| Warnings |
| DO NOT use drive-in automatic car washes with the carrier installed. |
| DO NOT overload the luggage carrier. |
| DO NOT sit on the luggage carrier. |
