Yes, which will be available early summer 2006. The trunk deck has been measured, the platform has been designed, and when production commences you'll be able to order this carrier online,
by phone, or mail. The Solstice carrier will be made from stainless steel. Became available online in 12/2006.
Easily, without making metal-to-metal contact. The carrier attaches to the mounting straps, and the straps are secured to
the car using clips. The clips (specifically designed for each car) are tension-tightened using bolts attaching to the
carrier. Rubber strips protect the trunk, between the metal tension straps and the trunk. The clips have a plastic guard
to prevent contact.
June 2002: a new, one-piece "Ambler" model bike attachment is available. Made of aluminum, comes fully assembled, and has locks and wheel fork holder. This single unit replaces the previous need for base and accessory frames (see below).
You need two parts, the aluminum base frame and the appropriate accessory frame, both described below.
If you only have skis, the economy ski holder of snap-around plastic holds one pair of skis; multiple holders can be snapped to any carrier.
Our leather belts come in natural tan and black, in 32" and 50" lengths. Two packs contain two short belts, the three pack contains one long and two short belts. We also carry black nylon staps in a three pack only, of one long, two short.
The Porsche Boxster is the exception, but for most roadsters with a spoiler, this accessory impedes or prevents installation. Toyota MR2 and Honda S2000 are non-fits; call us if you have questions.
Our European HQ says "yes, it will fit". We found there is enough clearance between the carrier plus Ambler bike attachment and the removable top. The trays holding the bike tires have an
underside trough, and the tray slides on the extrusion from the assembly that clamps to the carrier. See the bike accessory page for diagrams.
Variations in the screws / studs used to hold the grill in place could require their replacement; you might be doing a little work, so eyeball these, and check the bolt to thread-hole alignment early on.
