#0: Will you be making a carrier for the Solstice?
Yes, which will be available early summer 2006. The trunk deck has been measured, the platform has been designed, and when production commences you'll be able to order this carrier online, by phone, or mail. The Solstice carrier will be made from stainless steel.
#1: How does the rack fit on the car?
Easily, without making metal-to-metal contact. The carrier attaches to the mounting straps, and the straps are secured to the car using clips. The clips (specifically designed for each car) are tension-tightened using bolts attaching to the carrier. Rubber strips protect the trunk, between the metal tension straps and the trunk. The clips have a plastic guard to prevent contact.
#2: How are the racks made?
Fabricated from quality steel brazed by hand to create joints stronger and cleaner than welding.
#3: Do any metal parts of the rack contact the car?
No, only the neutral EPDM rubber and plastic guards contact the metal and paint.
#4: Is there a warranty?
Yes, two years, and details are on the warranty detail page.
#5: What do the carriers and accessories cost?
See the prices page.
#6: What are the shipping costs and options?
See the shipping page.
#7: On the Porsche Boxster, does the rack clear the spoiler?
Yes
#8: How can I carry bikes on the carrier?
June 2002: a new, one-piece "Ambler" model bike attachment is available. Made of aluminum, comes fully assembled, and has locks and wheel fork holder. This single unit replaces the previous need for base and accessory frames (see below).
#9: How can I carry skis and/or snowboards on the carrier?
You need two parts, the aluminum base frame and the appropriate accessory frame, both dscribed below.   If you only have skis, the economy ski holder of snap-around plastic holds one pair of skis; multiple holders can be snapped to any carrier.
#10: How is the aluminum base frame used?
This frame is attached to your carrier, and holds accessory frame, which holds the ski and snowboard attachments.
#11: How does the accessory frame attach?
The aluminum frame uses metal clips to be screwed onto the carrier platform.
#12: Where can I buy them?
See our dealers page, or purchase direct here.
#13: What are the belt/strap options?
Our leather belts come in natural tan and black, in 32" and 50" lengths. Two packs contain two short belts, the three pack contains one long and two short belts. We also carry black nylon staps in a three pack only, of one long, two short.
#14: How can I pay?
Credit card by phone or online direct here, check or money order by mail. Various methods through our dealers.
#15: Will the rack fit other cars?
No, each carrier is car-specific because of the fit clips.
#16: How long does it take to install?
The first time, using the instructions, should take about an hour; afterwards, on or off should take about fifteen minutes.
#17: What are the red plugs for?
To protect the screw threads; remove before installing the carrier.
#18: What about the fit on cars with spoilers?
The Porsche Boxster is the exception, but for most roadsters with a spoiler, this accessory impedes or prevents installation.
Toyota MR2 and Honda S2000 are non-fits; call us if you have questions.
#19: Any limitations carry bikes on the MR2 Spyder RE having the top up?
Our European HQ says "yes, it will fit". We found there is enough clearance between the carrier plus Ambler bike attachment and the removable top. The trays holding the bike tires have an underside trough, and the tray slides on the extrusion from the assembly that clamps to the carrier. See the bike accessory page  for diagrams.
#20: What about the fit on older 911/Targa?
Variations in the screws / studs used to hold the grill in place could require their replacement; you might be doing a little work, so eyeball these, and check the bolt to thread-hole alignment early on.
